    🏡. Hello Eve , You are just who I needed to find ❤. I am so convinced of this method . Unfortunately I allowed myself to be talked out of it and now I mow around all my new shrubs and perennials which has been difficult . I am much older, weak. I have a few basic hand tools and disability with waking . I will find a way . My $ is nil and no car. I did my best to educate myself about alkaline soil . Diverting water away from my tiny home . I'm so glad to meet you ❤

    This video is very important and informative. I had landscaping done and pool put in where there was nothing but grass and red bricks. The landscaper was correct in not crowding, but it should have been explained at it looked unfinished when done. landscaper also put in clumping bamboo, which I love but deadly near a pool as the leaves were constantly blowing into the pool.. I will see if getting online for this course is still available as I no longer live there and want to replace my 572 sq ft lawn in front with no mowing alternative. thanks a bunch and best wishes

    Rubbish! Watch videos by Charles Dowding. I am practicing gardening using his methods, and from my own experience I can tell you, if you want to have healthy, organic well producing garden, you never have enough cardboard. Be it for weed suppression, adding to compost or to worm farm. Watch Charles' videos and learn. And just for the record, I have no connection to Charles of any kind.

    Don’t agree with the first tip! I have maple trees in the city owned easement and neighbor’s yards that are not mine but produce THOUSANDS of maple seeds and seedlings under bushes when I had them. I could not get Preen sprinkled far enough under them and weeding them by had was a nightmare even though thick mulch made them a bit easier to pull most of the time. By taking out the shrubs and planting east care perennials I can now get the Preen everywhere it needs to go and it cuts down considerably on the war against the maple seedlings.

    I literally stumbled upon your video and SO happy you did it and that I watched. Extremely interesting as I knew nothing other than either I liked the color or not, but wasn't a fan. Now that I know what to look for and why, I can discuss with the landscaper who I want to replace my lawn with low/no mow green ground cover with similar water needs at the stunning Birch tree. Until watching this, I had not consider mulch at all around the base of the Birch but I can see how it would be beneficial to the tree as well as adding aesthetics around the base. I'm definitely going to check your other videos. thanks a bunch

    Another good reason to get inspiration around your neighborhood, is that lately there are so many fake AI generated pictures on the internet. You can't trust anything you see anymore, unless it's right in front of you..

    I allowed a landscape architect to install some bamboo after being reassured that it would be in containers that would be in the ground. That bamboo in now in my neighbor's yard as well as all over mine. Bamboo sheds leaves that will fill up the area around it giving it enough material to grow in. It is an invasive mess, but you won't know that until it's too late. We are now in the scorched Earth phase. We cut it down as far as possible and salt it. Eventually it will kill it...eventually. Don't plant it.

      @EmerySand 13 днів тому

      There are so many types of bamboo. Two distinct growth patterns - clumping and running. Your LA should have known this. Yours sounds like the running kind. I have had clumping bamboo in my yard for years making an excellent screen from my neighbor. The clump gets bigger but is controllable by cutting the bamboo shoots each year. And it has not travelled into neighbors yard. Love the way it looks and the rustling sounds the wind makes.

    Garden maintenance of your yard is pretty good filled with a variety of activities that teaches us about the cycles of nature. We tested growing peas, grew about 10 pea plants and the pea pods do smell beautiful inside the house after picking just 10 pods on one day. It helps you to see how fresh produce is truly such a wonderful thing to grow.

    I was looking for a solution for a temporary fence as we're planting wildflower seeds in the front garden and a neighbours dog keeps using said garden as his toilet. Watching this reminded me that I have several bamboo blinds we no longer use. I shall be spraying them with varnish and using them. Thanks for the inspo. Also must get some clumping bamboo for the back garden too. Cheers.

    Excellent video. There’s zero reason to really ever use landscaping fabric. It effectively accomplishes nothing except create a headache for you. My yard had a massive amount of English ivy in the back, some Japanese honeysuckle, and some other small patches of various invasives. I got a chip drop, carted an entire truck worth of chip to the back of my yard and smothered 95% of it out with chip alone. At the end of a year of smothering I had no turf to contend with, no weeds, just bare dirt to move mulch and plant into. I also had a ton of mulch to shift around and shape my new garden bed! Really people, just don’t buy the fabric. It does nothing for you.

    Edging was something I found to be a challenge. Maintenance usually involves weed whacking, which to me can be eliminated with the use of grassy borders using day lilies. The mower passes underneath leaving a fairly tidy transition. Another challenge are hardscapes like fencing which again requires weed whacking. I plant more day lilies.

    I never thought much about gardening until I became a homeowner. Now it’s my favorite hobby. I find myself trying to recreate three acres into an old world fantasy scene. I’ve successfully naturalized Foxgloves in the woodline and have created an English Bluebell forest. Now I’m working on making a fantasy cottage style garden with climbing roses, hollyhocks, delphiniums, Foxglove and Lupins. It’s like being Bob Ross but painting with biology. And it’s a great thing to do with my daughters. Next thing you know your picking strawberries, making Oxeye Daisies and periwinkle into flower crowns with the girls, there’s humming birds after the cardinal climbers and butterflies everywhere and it all smells like roses outside. Can’t beat gardening as a hobby!

    Hello! I hope it's not too late to ask you a question about this video but I just viewed it for the first time. At 7:10 on your video you're standing next to a gorgeous bamboo plant. I'm wondering how long it takes to grow that tall? I purchased some yesterday and the plant is about 18" tall. We want to use it as a privacy screen on our patio but it's currently too short. It's only late May so I'm wondering if it could possibly grow a bunch this summer? Maybe I should feed it extra food? Thank you for inspiring me!
